Learning Resources of the Departments- Library computer and other resources:The Department has three well established laboratories for both major and core students. Every measure has been taken to provide all the necessary instruments, chemicals and glassware to the students. The Department has also established a small library to cater the needs of the students. Some of the sophisticated equipments like Soil & Water testing Kit, Kjeldahls Distillation Plant, Hot Air Oven, GPS, Polarimeter, uv-vis spectrophotometer, Conductometer, Digital Electronic Balance, Shaking Machine, Magnetic Stirrer etc. are available at the Department. One desktop, laptop computer and LCD projector is available in the department.

Modern Teaching Methods and use of ICT in teaching-learning :The department also adopts modern teaching methods other than the lecture method. The College has provided desktop, laptop and LCD projector to the department for teaching. The department also arranges seminars, group discussions and hosts Chemistry Olympiad.

Plan of action of the department for the next five years :The department has an action plan for the next five years. It has plans for achieving the following targets:

  1. To introduce a new career oriented programme in Analytical and Computational Chemistry. The required proposal has already been submitted to the UGC, New Delhi for approval.

  2. To establish a Water Quality Surveillance Centre at the Department. The Centre has already get approval from UGC as part of CPE Scheme of North Lakhimpur College. Through this centre we hope to create a reliable water quality database in the region and also to educate and raise awareness among the people so that concerted strategies can be adopted, at the planning level, to keep the contamination of water at the minimum.

  3. To organise a workshop on Green Chemistry in collaboration with The Science Society, Assam. The required proposal has already been submitted to the UGC, NERO for approval.

  4. To mobilize more resources and funding from UGC, DST through research projects and consultancy.

  5. To acquire more sophisticated equipments from the UGC and DST grants for improving the in house research work.

  6. To strengthen the Alumni Association of the Department.
