Learning Resources of the Departments- Library computer and other resources: The Department has established laboratories for both major and core students. There is a departmental library comprising of 312 books and 12 Journals. Most of the books available in the Departmental Library are contributed by the teachers.As learning resource, audio-visual aids such as computer with LCD projector, Slide projector, etc are available in the department. Some of the sophisticated equipments available at the Department are B.O.D. Incubator, Laminar air flow bench, Bacteriological Incubator, Distillation Plant, Hot Air Oven, Digital Electronic Balance, Colorimeter, centrifuge, Chromatographic chamber, Muffle furnace ,Soil testing kit, pH meter, etc. The students are given free hand to handle the equipments with proper assistance by the teachers.

Modern Teaching Methods and use of ICT in teaching-learning : The course curriculum prepared by the University includes a number of modern and developing subjects such as biotechnology, laboratory methodology, biostatistics, computer application etc. The Department follows a sincere and systematic teaching procedure with developing teaching aids such as audio-visual methods, microphone system, computer power point methods etc. to make the procedure of teaching a student friendly one.

Plan of action of the department for the next five years : The department has an action plan for the next five years. It has plans for achieving the following targets:

The Department has introduced a DBT sponsored one year diploma course in Plant Tissue Culture & Micropropagation, sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Govt.of India, New Delhi.

The Department runs a “Career Oriented Programme on Herbal Plantation’, sponsored by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

»

The college establishes the linkages with Academic staff college in different   University for training of the teachers in the form of orientation programme and refresher course.

The college has linkages with U.G.C. for sending teachers for research under teachers fellowship scheme. One teacher, Anil Borah,  has obtained M.Phil Degree from Periyar University, Chennai.

As a part of faculty development programme the teachers of the department have international linkage with reputed institutions through their research activities. Dr.S.N.Phukan & Dr.Rupa Phukan have successfully completed ‘Minor Research Project’ under financial support from UGC.
