INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL
(IQAC )
               NORTH LAKHIMPUR COLLEGE       
   

Internal   Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of North Lakhimpur College was  established  on   11-12-2004,just after peer team’s visit for accreditation of the college, as a post accreditation quality sustenance measure. Since its inception IQAC has become a part of the college and has been working as the coordinating body among   all the stake holders of the institution towards realizing the goal of quality enhancement and sustenance. The role of IQAC is significant and meaningful in the post – accreditation phase of North Lakhimpur College keeping in mind the goal and objectives of the founders of the college. North Lakhimpur College, established in 1952,to cater the need and  aspiration of the people of     a vast   area (approximately10,000sq.km)of the  North Eastern part of Assam which have- a) agriculture dependent economy, b)poor communication network c)population comprises of different religious-ethnic groups. With this backdrop a core group of far sighted persons in particular and the people of the vast region in general established the college, with the following goals and objectives in mind.

  • To impart higher education to the students of this backward region, so that economic backwardness or lack of communication could not retard the academic development of the region.

  • For socio cultural development of various ethnic groups of the region.

  • To create scientific temperament.

  • To provide employment avenue.

  • To promote gender equality.

COMPOSITION OF THE IQAC:

THE BASIC GOAL OF IQAC OF  NORTH LAKHIMPUR COLLEGE ARE:

  • To ensure continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution, and

  • To assure stake holders connected with higher education-namely,students,parents,teachers,staff,would be employers,funding agencies and society in general - of the accountability of the institution for its own quality and probity.                                               

THE FUNCTIONS OF THE IQAC: In conformity with the guide lines as envisaged by NAAC for quality sustenance in post-accreditation period, the IQAC of North Lakhimpur College has benchmarked the following as  its basic functions

  • Recording and monitoring quality measures of the institution.

  • Acting as a nodal agency of the institution for quality-related activities.

  •  Disseminanation of information on quality aspects.

  • Organisation of workshops,seminars and propotion of quality circles.

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters in various activities of the institution.

  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report and such other reports as may be decided from time to time.  The coordinator,assistant coordinators,the secretary and as a whole all the members have been relentlessly working under the guidance and supervision of the chair person of the IQAC,North Lakhimpur College in implementing the above functions.

1.Annual Quality Assurance Report:  Quality sustenance measures taken in each of the above academic session and their out come were reported to NAAC at the end of every session in the form of Annual Quality Assurance Report. (Anixer –I)

2.    Feedbacks: IQAC, North Lakhimpur College has evolved a  mechanism to obtain   feedbacks  in a periodic manner from         

  • student

  • academic peers

  • members from management

  • faculties and 

  • staffs                                       

a) Student  Feedback : Student’s feedbacks are sought in a set of specially designed performa on a)Course b)Faculty  c)Progrrame and evaluation.The performa’s were distributed among student’s through their respective HOD’s following random sampling method in envelopes. The filled up performas were returned to the HOD’s in sealed envelopes andwere collected by the members of the committee. The datas/informations obtained from student’s feedbacks were arranged department wise in tabular form  and analysed  thoroughly .The report of student’s feedbacks analysis was sent to the authority for taking corrective measures if and when required.(Anixer-II)

b) Academic Peers Feedbacks : Feedback from academic peers is sought in a specially designed performa on academic progrrame,infrastructure,teaching and learning and quality of educationin the College.Their suggestions are also sought for  further improvement in the above mentioned points.The report of academic  peers feedback  analysis was sent to the authority for taking appropriate measures.

c) Feedbacks of members from management: Feedback from academic peers is sought in a specially designed performa on academic progrrame,infrastructure,teaching and learning and quality of educationin the College.Their suggestions are also sought for  further improvement in the above mentioned points.The report of academic  peers feedback  analysis was sent to the authority for taking appropriate measures.
