Date of establishment of the department:   1952 .The Honours course was started from 1966.

  • A no. of  journanals/periodicals are also subscribed by the departments.

Departmental Wall Magazine:

  • The department publishes a Wall Magazine named "Itihash Sora"  published twice in a year.

a)       a. “Religion and society in North East India: Impact of Hinduism , Christianity and other religions” in the National Seminar on Religion and society in North East India, 16th-19th century organized by Shri Shri Aniruddhadeva Chair(A centre for Religions and Ethno-cultural studies),Deptt. of History, DU, held on 29th-30th Nov’2006.

b)      b. "Origin and Migration of the Missings” in the International Seminar on Thai , Tribal and other Ethnics of North East India, South East Asia and Yunnam, China held at Dhemaji ,Assam on 21st-22nd March’2006.

         c. Published 11 research papers in the proceedings of the NEIHA volumes and UGC ICSSR ang ICHR sponsored regional, national and international seminars.

         Sri Atanu Gogoi, M.A.

 

            1. Area of Interest:  Tourism in the North East Historical and Cultural Dimension.

         2. Published work:  One Text Book on Tourism written as per the syllabus of the major course of History, Dibrugarh University.
